A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!

ON TO EVER INCREASING CIRCLES!!! Post No.33 (A 6 minute read) 

Are you thinking of moving in ever increasing circles this year? Have you started off the year full of plans and intentions? I have got off to a very slow start this year. I FEEL that I do not want this year and all that IS coming my way, like it or not!! As such, my own levels of push and drive are low. What is the point in all my intentions, after all, that is all they are. Good intentions!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL FROM A SOMEWHAT YOUNGER ME AND MY TWO BELOVED DACHSHUNDS!!

Well, if I can only have the luxury of using my mind, I will use it always with good intentions! That will not change. Why waste valuable thinking time as well as living time, on bad intentions? Moving on with my book review, that book being ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN, I am now into chapter twenty-nine, entitled EVER INCREASING CIRCLES.

And yes, well, the idea of writing a book is so that others can in their own good time, sit and read through my words. So, back from Morocco, break up with guy, move back to family home and have a re-think time. What I could see was that my Mr. Benn life style was just great, it was, but what did I have to show for my efforts? Knowledge and understanding were what I had to show for my efforts so far.

How could I apply this knowledge and understanding? So, after finding another bit job, plans were made for another trip to Morocco, this time though to find work. Head in the clouds I am sad to say and though I had another wonderful month in that beautiful country, I was obliged to use the return part of my ticket and come home!

Owing to reasons beyond my control, once again I had missed my last train home and so jumped on a train to Cambridge where my elder sister was now living as an alternative option. I had missed the last post train as well that time! I decided to find a job in Cambridge and enjoyed again meeting another new set of people but I did not get close to anyone here.

We drove down to our home village for Christmas and in the January, packed up and headed off to Gibraltar to start with, then on to Morocco for a while and then back into Spain where we were hoping to pick up work, which we did!! Big sister went back to the UK and I stayed on and my days of living in Spain began!

In the time of today, in my home nation, the first COVID-19 vaccines were being administered. I received the news that my mother had received her´s and was very relieved by that. When will we get ours here I wondered?

CHAPTER THIRTY - SAHARA BOUND

Two in one today my friends and I am so wanting to get this review finished that I have even overlooked greeting you all thus far. A very good afternoon to you ALL and thank you for reading this far today.

BREXIT may ring a bell to many of you but as a British national, I was going to notice a knock-on effect somewhere. I look in this chapter at some of the consequences for British nationals after this miserable decision to re-isolate the nation again! I had no right to vote having been out of the UK for more than ten years. So, I was raw because I had no say, I had no voice at all! Story of my life!!

My first trip back home presented me with the most delightful surprise. Our beautiful Dachshund had had four beautiful puppies, two boys and two girls, one of whom became a permanent member of the family! It was a special time indeed for me and my family. My plans for Africa were developing and this time, I was off for a long expedition!!

I talk too of the Arab, African, Asian custom of car sharing for a price. We too are doing that here in Almería. Living as we do, in a pretty similar way to the North African Arabs. Though the fear of strangers here does make this an option for the brave. Not so on the African continent!!

The boats full of African and Arab nationals arriving on the shores of Spain is dramatic. The year 2020, saw the highest numbers yet. Our taxi drivers were living exclusively off these new arrivals and our pensioners!!

Travel makes a wise person wiser and a fool more foolish. Yes, that is certainly true. All things organized, all plans in mind and off I flew to Algiers, Algeria, to begin my trek across the Sahara Desert. North to South, with all the time in the world. But not an awful lot of money!!

I cross paths with some young Algerians previously met in Marbella, Spain, in Algiers and that was so fortunate for me, given the circumstances. My first week of travel brings me to Ghardaia, Algeria, where this chapter draws to a close.

I really did have such an incredible adventure this trip and much of the second half of my book is centered on this marvellous expedition across Algeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, The Ivory Coast, Mali and again crossing the Sahara, South to North and back to the UK.

Have you gone on a long travel adventure alone? Have you spent long or short months in foreign lands? Have you set foot on the African continent? Does Africa have a pull for you? Or the Sahara Desert and the people who live down there?

I have as always, set off at a fine click but realized later as the posts began to add up, that really, I should have thought of numbering them to make it easier to follow my rather erratic Trains of Thought. I am in the process of doing that. The posts are dated though and I began in November just to aid you.
